Case study

Pricing reset

A services firm had not raised rates in three years. Utilisation was high, margin was thin, and the team was tired.

The brief

Reprice the book without losing the clients that made the firm, and prove it in the pack.

What we found

The bottom fifth of clients took a third of the hours. Scope creep had never been billed, anywhere.

What moved

New rate card, billed overages, and a graceful exit for nine accounts. Margin up eleven points.

The work

We priced every client by effective hourly yield, then sorted the book into defend, reprice and release. The partners wrote the letters together, in one sitting, with the numbers beside them.

Two clients left. Both were in the release pile. The monthly pack now tracks yield per client, so drift shows up early.
